Antilithiac activity of Chrysopogon zizanioides Brushite crystallization in vitro

Urolithiasis or the formation of calculi at any level urinary tract is a common disorder found throughout world. Brushite minerals, probably initiator stone under favorable physiological environment, are one most commonly occurring stones along with calcium oxalate mono and di-hydrates. An attempt was made to know effectiveness methanolic extract Chrysopogon zizanioides L. (Vetiver) roots on growth brushite crystals. crystals grown by single gel diffusion technique were treated different additives, increasing concentration herbal extract, showed reduced size, weight, transparency complexity in morphology. Preliminary phytochemical analysis confirmed presence active components like flavonoids, saponins, phenols anthocyanins. The Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) spectrum harvested from various treatments revealed band shifts, disappearance existing appearance new peaks which indicated action extract. work established inhibitory activity vetiver root supports conventional knowledge using for control treatment kidney stones.
